On the Road to Teaching!

Welcome! This is My Teaching Journey.
My Story
I began my experience in DCPS as a substitute during the COVID-19 pandemic, in 2020. Throughout that time I was able to fill in for various elementary grades--all with the exception of Pre-K and fourth. By the winter of 2021 I transitioned into being a full-time aide for the second grade at the same school, and currently am an aide for their first, second and third grades.

My Experience

Pre-school Camp Counselor
June 2023-Present, Seasonal
Currently working at a summer camp for youths from age 2 up to age 9, with primary group being 3-4 year-olds or the 'connections'. It is a fun extended program hosted by an episcopal church and pre-school, and includes activities such as sing-alongs, arts and crafts, exploration, and games!
Teaching Aide/Co-teacher
November 2021-Present
During 2021 I was an aide for second grade at Stoddert ES. Presently I am working with first, second and third grades. Duties include attending to students in need or who may be struggling, assisting in transitions between classes and specials, copying and printing, collaborating with teachers on in-class activities and work, help set up and break down classrooms for celebrations and holidays.
Substitute Teacher
October 2020-November 2021
From 2020 to 2021, I became a substitute primarily for Stoddert ES. Duties include leading classrooms/filling in for teachers when absent, attending to one or more classes in a day, collaborating with administration on the different classes, collaborating with teachers on assignments and work students must do, provide communication via email to parents if need be.

Education

Teaching Certification Moreland University
November 2022-Present (Expected completion is August 2023)
I have been attending Moreland's Graduate Teaching Certification since November of 2022! I will be getting my teaching certification, concentrated in Elementary from grades 1-6. Current course we are in is Module 4: Managing the Learning Environment, Unit 6 which is covering the management of student behavior in the classroom.

MBA Trinity Washington University
August 2019-June 2021
I attended Trinity's Business School beginning in Fall of 2019 and graduated in May/June of 2021. I received a Masters in Business Administration, with a concentration in Leadership. Courses I had taken included Ethics for Leaders, Leadership and Organizational Behavior, Macroeconomics and the Global Economy, and Project Management.

August 2015-May 2019
I attended this university during the Fall of 2015 until May of 2019. I received a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology, with a minor in Business Administration. Courses I took during this time included Sociocultural Anthropology, Environmental Philosophy and
